Brewer – Newfoundland and Labrador Language Lessons

A brewer is a day of nice calm weather before a stormy day, because that’s when the storm is getting ready. The storm is brewing, the storm is preparing. Your pets are on edge during a brewer. The dog might be barking a little more than usual because there’s a little something in the air. Something’s just a little off. First glance it looks great. Maybe even the sun’s out. Might be beautiful. But it’s a little bit… there’s an edge to… to everything. It’s tough to use the word brewer in the present tense. Brewer is a word that’s almost always used in the past tense. “That was a brewer.” Because you could say “this is a brewer,” but you might be proved wrong, So. And nobody likes that.
